Where are my Skype images saved ?
I've recently ran into this issue when trying to finally set up an avatar for all of my social networks/userid's. I knew that Skype would let you take screenshots of yourself if you have a camera: Tools > Options > General > video settings > Take a video snapshot however I couldn't really use the image on anything else but Skype since I didn't know where skype saved pics. I'd rather have the same avatar across the board so I did a little research.
Here is how to find your Skype images on your computer. First Make sure you can see hidden files and folders. To check this you will have to go to Control Panel > Folder Options > Click on the View Tab > Under the Hidden files and folders section make sure that > Show hidden files, folders, and drives is selected.
Now the very intuitive
location of your images is in this previously hidden folder:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Skype\Pictures
Of coures replace YOURUSERNAME with your user name
Pretty easy if you know the right steps to take. Now I'm sure you don't want to have to remeber that ridiculous location every time you want to look though those pictures. My suggestion would be to create a shortcut to it. You can easily do this by first browsing to the desired location IE: Pictures folder or wherever you'd like and then right-click on empty space > New > Shortcut For location use: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Skype\Pictures > Next > Name it > Finish Having this setup seems a lot more logical for me and you apparently not yet for Skype.

You don’t put it anywhere you browse to that location on your computer and then follow the rest of the steps. Start the tutorial from the beginning and make sure you don’t skip any steps.

Ok I appreciate the tips but I sure am frustrated that computer people just assume that that others who need help are at the same level they are at as far as knowing how to do stuff. You did well at the beginning by stating to go to the control panel, folder options, etc… and that part I did just fine because you had it step by step. But then you just jump to some crazy ass code ….C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Skype\Pictures
You don’t say anything about how we are suppose to get there, what we are suppose to do with that… how the heck are we to find what ever in the world you are talking about? So first I did a windows search and copy and pasted that code in it… of course I put in my user name but windows could not find it. Then I went to my C Drive and found my Skype folder and looked through everything… I cannot find it!
COMPUTER PEOPLE…. WHEN YOU GIVE ADVICE CAN YOU ASSUME THAT OTHERS NEED *******STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION******* BECAUSE WE DON’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT (THAT IS WHY WE ARE LOOKING ONLINE FOR HELP) AND ALL YOU DO IS FRUSTRATE US MORE.
Just imagine teaching a kid how to ride a bike and all you tell them is “turn right”…goodluck hunny!
Good greif…

HOLY COW!!!! Now I see having to read through the sea of notes that it is our WINDOWS username and not our SKYPE username!!! Could you please clarify things for us when you give advice?!?!?! You cannot assume that we know anything… do everything STEP BY STEP! How are we to know you were referring to our WINDOWS username as opposed to the SKYPE username?!?!?! We are talking about SKYPE! You’ve got to tell us man what the hell you mean. Does no one know how to make things easier for people by giving step by step instructions!?! Look at all the confusion on your page and how many people are confused and don’t know what to do!!!
Thanks for trying to help but you have cost even more loss of time by not explaining yourself and making it easy for others to understand. I wish someone would repost this filling in the gaps you left out

@R.C. This website is not idiot proof. I can tell you are frustrated however my intention was not to write this tutorial for non “computer people” I would not have enough time to encompass all of the details and caveats that you would like me to. I’m surprised you are not on a Mac.
